Russian Communications Complex Bows at Paris Arms Show
The Omsk-based A.S. Popov Radio Plant will present its latest development – a hi-tech mobile communications complex created around the base of the GAZ-330811 Wild Boar all-terrain vehicle – at the Eurosatory 2008 arms show in Paris, which opens June 16. The communications complex, which will be sold by Rosoboronexport, provides satellite Internet access, wireless communications between distant users and retransmission of data through fiber-optic lines at 155 megabytes per second.
The complex includes two telescopic antennae and one parabolic antenna, two digital radio-relay stations, built-in and portable UHF stations, Wi-Fi equipment, satellite connections, a modem and a protected laptop computer. Five communications channels – satellite, fiber-optic, cable and two radio relays – can be open at once. The flexible communications allow it to make contact with any civil or special-purpose network.

The GAZ-330811 Wild Boar, which is the base of the new communications complex, has a fully metal body and a 177-horsepower diesel engine. It can travel at speeds up to 95 km./hr. It weighs about 5 tons and has a range of 970 km.
