Sotheby's Put Up for Sale Faked Canvass of Glazunov
Russia’s artist Ilya Glazunov has demanded from Sotheby's Auction House to remove allegedly his canvass from the Russian Paintings Auction of June 10. He didn’t paint The View of a Kremlin oil on canvas, the artist told RIA Novosti.
“I express strong protest, I demand they remove the fake that is said to be my canvass… The canvas View of a Kremlin is awful. It discredits me as an artist,” Glazunov was emphatic.
The Sotheby's catalogue doesn’t specify the canvas history. The only thing clear is that it comes from a private German collection and signed by "l.r.".
People in the London office of Sotheby's said they received Glazunov’s application and are probing into the origin of this oil on canvas.
