Tu-95 Bomber Not to Be Shown at ILA 2008
Despite the previous plans and for reasons unknown, Russia’s strategic bomber Tu-95, the Bear, won’t make a demonstration flight at the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA in Berlin, Flight Global reported with reference to the RF embassy in Germany.
The list of the aircraft provided by the ILA arrangers names Russia’s Tu-95 in category De, which provides for the outer demonstration, i.e. Tu-95 was to make a continuous flight from Russia to the exhibition venue, Schoenefeld airport, and back to the base. But to the greatest disappointment of enthusiasts, the crowd will hardly see the Bear above Berlin.
As a result, Russia will be represented only by upgraded MiG-29 and the jet will be shown only on the ground.
Overall, some 55 national enterprises and research bureaus, including Irkut, MiG and VSMPO-AVISMA corporations, will participate in ILA 2008. Russia will have its own pavilion first time at the Berlin air show.
ILA 2008 will be held May 27 to June 1 and attended by over 1,000 companies of 40 countries, showing over 300 planes both in air and on ground.
