GM Sales Up 70% in Russia This Year
Sales of cars made by the U.S. automaker General Motors were up 70 percent in the first four months of the year, as compared to the same period of last year. They totaled 117,135 vehicles. The GM press service reports that those data are based on sales by official GM dealers in Russia from the beginning of January through the end of April.
Chevrolet sales in the first four months of the year increased 53 percent over the same period of last year to 82,206 vehicles. Opel sales were up 130 percent to 33,749 vehicles, SAAB sales were up 80 percent to 375 vehicles. GM produces trucks and passenger cars in 33 countries. Its sales in 2007 were up 3 percent to 9,369,524 vehicles. Its sales in Russia increased 95 percent, to 259,000 vehicles.

The company manufactures Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, GM Daewoo, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall models. It has plants in seven European countries.
