Russia to Help China Enrich Uranium for $1.5bn
Russia has inked an agreement with China on constructing the fourth stage of uranium enrichment facilities and on supplying the enriched uranium product.
The respective agreement was signed during the official visit of Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev to Beijing. The deal amounts to $1.5 billion, RIA Novosti reported with Reference to Rosatom chief Sergei Kirienko, while the construction cost will reach $1 billion, according to France Presse.

The contract provides for supplies of 6 million division unites of Russia’s uranium within ten years. Russia has never executed such projects from scratch, Kirienko specified.

A new contract with China will load Russia’s centrifuges, as they will be producing more fuel than required for domestic consumption.
