UEFA Awarded Elite Status to Moscow Luzhniki
Moscow Luzhniki Stadium has received the elite status of UEFA, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Valery Vinogradov, first vice mayor of Moscow and deputy head of the Organization Committee for Holding UEFA Champions League Final in Russia’s capital.
Luzhniki hosted yesterday the thrilling all-Britain’s final, where Manchester United triumphed over Chelsea.
“At the stage of completing the preparation of Luzhniki Stadium, it was awarded by the plate saying it has the elite status,” Vinogradov explained.
“It isn’t five stars, it is higher. There are three such stadiums overall, Manchester City, Emirates and now Luzhniki,” the bureaucrat said, specifying that, after the match, the UEFA leadership gave favorable emotional evaluation to the organization of the Champions League final in Moscow. A commemorative Stella was opened in Luzhniki Wednesday in honor of that final, Vinogradov pointed out.
