Ice Hockey Squad Landed in Moscow
The national ice hockey team of Russia that dethroned the host Canadians at the World Championships returned to Moscow. The charter flight from Quebec landed in Vnukovo airport at 1:04 p.m. MSK, Interfax reported. Over 250 fans and an orchestra of Moscow Military District greeted the players in the homeland.
The fans hailed their heroes by flowers, balloons of Russia’s flag colors. They were singing the songs, including famous Katyusha.

The plane was scheduled to land at around 9:30 a.m., but the flight was delayed several times.

The Russians won 5-4 the ice hockey World Championship in Quebec City May 18. Ilya Kovalchuk was the hero of that game against Canada. This forward first leveled the score in the third period and scored the winner in the overtime.

The Russians won the world championships first time from 1993 and it was the 24th victory in history of the national ice hockey.
