Industrial Output Surged 6.9 Percent in 4mth
Industrial output in Russia grew 6.9 percent on year in January through April, Russia’s Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported.
The April 2008 index of industrial production stood at 109.2 to the index of April 2007 but was just 95.4 percent of the index compiled for this year’s March.

Processing industries (up by 10.2 percent) made the biggest contribution in industrial growth in January through April, while the output and distribution of electric energy, gas and water surged just 4.5 percent and extracting output crawled up 0.6 percent.

An industrial production index is compiled in view of the data on mining operations, processing industries, production and distribution of electric energy, gas and water. It covers production dynamics of 730 items taken both in kind and in terms of value. The scales are the structure of gross value added in the basic year (2002).
