Ice Hockey Heroes Bringing Champ Gold to Moscow
The ice hockey squad of Russia that dethroned the host Canadians at the World Championships will be in Moscow at 12:45 a.m., RIA Novosti reported with reference to a representative of Vnukovo airport, where the jet with Russia’s team will land today.
The Russians won 5-4 the ice hockey World Championship in Quebec City May 18. Ilya Kovalchuk was the hero of the standoff. This forward first leveled the score in the third period and scored the winner at the beginning of the overtime.

Russia’s goalie Evgeni Nabokov was acknowledged the best of the championships and joined the symbolic team.

The Russians last won the title in 1993 and the gold went to Canada at last year’s event hosted by Moscow.
