Il-76 with Airmobile Hospital Aboard Heads for China
Equipped with airmobile hospital, Il-76 jet of Russia’s Emergency Ministry has headed for China today to deliver medical rescuers and 7 tons of medicaments, RCB reported with reference to the PR department of the RF Emergency Ministry.
Four jets of the RF Emergency Ministry have already delivered to China roughly 120 tons of humanitarian aid, mostly tents and blankets. Medical rescuers and officers of the ministry’s Centrospas team that arrived May 16 proceed with their effort there.

Another jet is scheduled to make a flight to the suffered regions of China in the near term.

The deathly earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck southwestern China May 12, 2008. The epicenter was in Beichuan of Sichuan province at the depth of 29km and 92km to the northwest of Sichuan administrative center Chengdu.

The official death toll has reached 29,000 and dozens of thousands are still buried under the earth. China’s officials said the number of victims could be 50,000.
