U.S. Dollar Sank to Ruble, Euro
The weighted average rate was 23.72 ruble/dollar in an hour and a half after the start of today’s trading in the U.S. dollar, tomorrow settlement.
The indicator is 12 kopecks above the May 19 official rate of exchange set by the CBR. The dollar depreciated 13 kopecks, or 0.55 percent, to ruble during two trading days.
At the same time, euro appreciated 4 kopecks to 36.95 ruble/euro by 11:30 a.m. MSK; MICEX biggest deals were clinched even at 37.06 ruble/euro.
The reason of this dollar's movement on Russia’s market of foreign exchange is its worldwide depreciation to euro. Euro costs roughly $1.5580 now vs. some $1.5490 in the afternoon of May 16. U.S. dollar lost roughly 0.6 percent to the European currency during a day.
U.S. dollar shed at today’s unified trading session in Moscow on insignificant sales. Commercial banks sold just $352 million as of 11:30 a.m.
