Russia’s Rescuers Arrived in China
A taskforce of Russia’s rescuers arrived Friday in Sichuan province of China that was hit by disastrous earthquake. The jet of the RF Emergency Ministry landed in Chengdu, the administrative center of province.
A taskforce of 29 Russian rescuers, including officers with dogs, 13 doctors and six emergency officers have arrived in China led by Sergei Salov, who heads the Operating Management Department at the RF Emergency Ministry.
The Russians have brought search devices, release equipment and the cross-country vehicles equipped with rescue devices. They have everything to survive in the region, where the regular supplies of water and energy were interrupted by the earthquake.
By decision of Chinese authorities, the Russians will head for Mianyang, which is to the north of Chengdu, and are expected to reach it by Friday evening.
The earthquake of 7.9 magnitude hit China’s Sichuan province past Monday. The death toll has neared 20,000, but will probably exceed 50,000. The aftershocks continue with more of them registered Friday.
