Russia’s Aircraft Delivered Humanitarian Aid to China
The emergency aircraft of Russia headed late Tuesday for China’s Sichuan province that was hit by the devastating earthquake.
“Il-76 air carrier took off 10:50 p.m., delivering tents, mattresses and blankets of the total weight of 30 tons,” a source familiar with the situation told RIA-Novosti.
The earthquake of 7.6 magnitude hit Sichuan province of China on Monday, at 2:28 p.m. local time, killing over 12,000 and injuring roughly 30,000. Some 94,000 remain buried under the debris.
The devastating earthquake continued Tuesday with 1,180 aftershocks recorded from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. local time, the magnitude of the strongest of them reached 6 under the Richter scale. The province suffered another shock of 6.1 magnitude at 3:00 p.m. and new shocks may follow.
