Medvedev Committed Security Council to Strengthen Army, Fight Corruption
Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev has committed the Security Council to elaborate solutions for strengthening Armed Forces, fighting corruption, opposing terrorism and ensuring international security, RIA Novosti reported.
The Security Council has large powers and its performance capabilities are unique in many aspects. In essence, it participates in elaborating the strategic course of the country, Medvedev pointed out when presenting new Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev.

“Its role is extremely vital should the interdepartmental coordination between different structures be needed, should it be necessary to make deep analytical surveys. I expect the RF Security Council to proceed with making out complex, strategic solutions on all wide variety of issues within its competence,” Medvedev said.

“I assume that the most serious attention is to be paid to strengthening our Armed Forces and enforcement bodies, perfecting [the methods of] fighting the crime, corruption, terrorism and extremism,” the president specified.
