Chechnya Launches Production of Zhiguli Cars
The Argun plant, Pishchemash, has set to manufacturing VAZ-21074 cars, the press service of Chechnya’s president reported. The estimated output of facility is 20 cars a day and the plans are to assemble VAZ-21099 in future.
AvtoVAZ and the government of the Chechen Republic concluded a cooperation agreement in January of 2008. According to the document, the parties are willing to jointly develop the automobile market, social field and production of cars/car spares in Chechnya.

In line with the agreement, AvtoVAZ will render assistance to the Chechen Republic to arrange the assembly of LADA cars, elaborate training programs for workers and experts and define the range of spares that will be manufactured in Chechnya.

In return, AvtoVAZ counts on support of Chechnya’s authorities in promoting its own product in the republic, strengthening the LADA brand and getting regional preferences there.

According to previous reports, AvtoVAZ and the Chechen Republic are willing to build four manufacturers of spares and an assembly plant. In Chechnya, they are targeted at the annual output of up to 30,000 cars by 2010 and 2011.
