Zenit Fans Celebrated UEFA Victory All Night
Fans of St. Petersburg FC Zenit were celebrating all night the 4-0 victory over FC Bayern München in their UEFA Cup semi-final second leg. The match was played at Petrovsky Stadium of the city May 1 and Zenit advanced to the European final after it. Some 200 fans were detained during the festivity.
The victory appears even more emphatic, as it was achieved in the absence of Andrei Arshavin, who had been disqualified during the first match of the teams played in Munich and ended by the draw of 1-1.

The universal festivity in downtown St. Petersburg started straight after the historic win. Some fans went to see the bridge draw, while another portion opted for swimming in the nearby rivers and ponds.

Big queues could be seen to all alcohol stores. As the laws ban from selling hard liquors after 11:00 p.m., the fans had to confine to beer.

In addition to beer, and it is a matter of tradition already, the fans went to the drugstores for high-proof liqueurs of haw and oats, which aren’t covered by the ban. All bars and cafes in the city were full of Zenit fans.

Some 200 were detained during the celebration, mostly for disorderly conduct, said a representative of the city’s enforcement departments. The windows weren’t broken and no big scuffles of fans were reported that day, he specified.
