Russians Injured in Egyptian Bus Crash
Thirteen Russians received injuries of varying degrees of seriousness in a traffic accident in Egypt involving a tour bus, according to Agence France Presse. RIA Novosti reports 14 Russians were injured in that crash. According to earlier reports, nine people died in the incident and 28 people were injured. There were a total of 40 passengers on the bus, including citizens of Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Ukraine and Russia.
The accident occurred on the morning of May 1, while the bus was traveling from Sharm el-Sheik to Cairo. A tire blew out 40 km. from the Suez Canal. The driver was unable to stop the bus and it rolled over and caught fire.
All the deaths were caused by burns. Three bodies remain unidentified. Local authorities think the unidentified victims were either Britons or Canadians. The injured have been placed in local hospitals. One Canadian tourist has had her leg amputated.
