Rosoboronexport to Step Up Armaments Supplies in 2008
Russia may step up overseas supplies of weapons in 2008, Anatoly Isaikin, who heads the state armaments exporter Rosoboronexport, announced in the air of Vesti TV Channel during the opening of Defense Services Asia 2008 (DSА'2008) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“We expect this year’s results to exceed indicators of the previous year,” Isaikin said.
Judging by official data, Rosoboronexport generated some $6.2 billion from exporting weapons in 2007, which was twice as much as in 2000. Today’s portfolio of the enterprise is full of orders worth nearly $25 billion.
At the DSА'2008, Rosoboronexport presents Russia’s Mil and Kamov helicopters, different models or armored vehicles and missile systems, multiple launch rocket systems, self-propelled assault guns and weapons of close combat.
The favorites are T-90S missile armed gun tank, BREM-1M recovery vehicle, IMR-3M engineering vehicle, BRT-80 and BTR 90 armored vehicles and GAZ-39371 Vodnik multi-purpose vehicle.
The visitors will also see Iskander-E missile complex, Smerch (Spout) multiple artillery missile system, Khrizantema-S, Kornet-E and Metis-M1 missile systems.
