Opposition to Stage March of Dissent in Moscow May 6
The Other Russia Coalition of Garry Kasparov’s United Civil Front, national bolsheviks of Eduard Limonov, as well as of Oborona (Defense) and Smena (Generation Change) youth movements intends to stage the March of Dissent in Moscow on May 6 with turnout of roughly 2,000, Alexander Averin, member of the Coalition Executive Committee, told RIA Novosti.
“The application for holding a regular March of Dissent was submitted April 21. A regular action of protest is slated for May 6; the venue is behind Griboedov monument, Chistye Prudy metro station,” Averin said.
The event will be attended by The Other Russia leaders, including Kasparov and Limonov, he specified, adding that the Moscow City Hall is likely to respond this week.
The last and unsanctioned March of Dissent was staged in Moscow March 3, 2008. When dispersing the rally, the police first detained SPS leader Nikita Belykh and famous right defender Lev Ponomarev, but released them in a while.
