Russia Has Over 100 Dollar Billionaires
Russia had 110 dollar billionaires by late 2007, 50 persons more than a year earlier, Vedomosti reported with reference to Forbes Russia Editor-in-Chief Maxim Kashulinsky.
The rating of Forbes Russia differs from the wealthiest list of the U.S. edition. Both teams of journalists view Basic Element CEO Oleg Deripaska the wealthiest Russian, while the second position goes to Roman Abramovich, according to the U.S. journalists, or to Severstal owner Alexei Mordashov, according to their Russian counterparts.

Russia had just 87 billionaires, yielding only to the United States in their number, says the list of the U.S. Forbes.

The difference in ratings, the editor-in-chief explained, roots in using forecasted data to compile the wealthiest list of the U.S. edition. The IPOs held in late 2007 changed the results as well. One more reason could be the depreciation of the U.S. dollar.
