Abbas Became MGIMO Honorary Doctor
The Academic Council of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) has awarded the honorary doctor title to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Interfax reported. Abbas was given a gown and a doctor hood.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Russia April 16 for negotiations about holding the peace conference on Middle East settlement that Moscow hosts in June. The conference, Abbas said in MGIMO, will help settle contradictions that have amassed when executing the agreements attained in time of the similar event in the U.S. Annapolis.
Abbas urged Israel to announce armistice and immediately proceed to cease-fire. The situation is extremely tense in the Gaza Strip, as Israel is conducting a combat action there in response to another gunfire of Palestinian militants. Egypt could be an armistice mediator, the leader specified.
