Putin to Meet Berlusconi Apr 17, 18
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will meet with Silvio Berlusconi April 17 and 18 in Italy, the Island of Sardinia, said president’s briefer Alexei Gromov.
Gromov said that, after Libya, Putin will go to Italy (the Island of Sardinia) on a working trip and meet with Silvio Berlusconi there. Former Italian PM, Berlusconi led his recently created conservative People of Freedom (PDL) bloc to the victory at parliamentary elections. Putin and Berlusconi will deliberate on Russia’s-Italian cooperation and its development potential.

According to official data, Berlusconi’s PDL won 340 (46.8 percent) of 617 seats in the lower house of Italian parliament and secured the majority of 171 (47.32 percent) seats in the Senate. So, Berlusconi will head the cabinet for the third time in Italy.

Berlusconi first took over the government in May of 1994 but had to step down that year’s December. The policymaker won back the PM office in 2001 to stay there till April 2006, when he yielded to the center-left opposition. The billionaire joined the election race after Romano Prodi’s cabinet was forced to quit in January.
