Russia Lacks 120bn Rubles for ISS
The appropriations for constructing Russia’s segment of ISS should go up by another 120 billion rubles, RIA Novosti reported with reference to RCC Energy President Vitaly Lopota.
The amount of 100 billion rubles has been appropriated for construction, but another 120 billion rubles should be provided to complete the work by 2015.
The target is to construct ten different modules at the International Space Station (ISS) by 2015, Lopota specified. A small research module-2 is to be put into operation in 2009, and the launch of a small research module-1 is slated for 2010. The ISS will have a multipurpose laboratory module in 2011, which will improve research and functional capacity of Russia's segment.
Two research and energy modules are to be set up in 2014 and 2015 to ensure energy supply to Russia’s segment of ISS. The initial plans were to complete the construction by 2010 but the deadline was put off by five years on the money shortage.
