Russia’s Foreign Authority Opposed Using Force in Kosovo
Russia’s Foreign Ministry has warned about the risk of force attack on ethnic Serbs resulted from the presence of international overseers in Kosovo.
The statement of the RF Foreign Ministry was made in the wake of the western media reports about the intention of international missions to stage actions of force against ethnic Serbs in Kosovo and provoke them to respond.
According to the ministry, the purpose of such actins could be the large-scale force attack on the Serbian population of the province to make them resign themselves to the self-proclaimed independence of Pristine.
If the information is adequate, the Foreign Ministry specified, it shows that no lessons have been drawn from the March tragic events in Mitrovica. The actions of this kind may speed up division of the province and stir up clashes there.
The RF Foreign Ministry urges international overseers, the EU and NATO to evaluate all potential consequences of using the force of this kind in Kosovo and act under mandates endorsed by the EU Security Council based on the Resolution 1244.
