Chevrolet Lacetti Is Most Popular with Russians
Chevrolet Lacetti tops the list of the most popular foreign cars in Russia by results of the first three months, although it was only the number 9 in sales past year. The Russians bought 19,950 Lacettis in the first quarter, according to the European Business Association.
But there is a contradiction in statistics of the European Business Association. The first place was to go to Ford Focus actually, which sales reached 20,109 cars, but this figure doesn’t match the official data of Ford.

Under the company’s estimate, its Q1 sales of Focus stood at 18,516, while the figure of 20,109 is the total of Ford Focus and C-Max (1,593). So, Ford Focus is only the second leader here and Renault Logan holds the third position.

The list of Russia’s Top 10 foreign models comprises Chevrolet Lacetti (19,950), Ford Focus (18,516), Renault Logan (18,078), Hyundai Accent (16.551), Mitsubishi Lancer X (13,708), Ford Fusion (12,784), Daewoo Nexia (12,115), Chevrolet Niva (GM-AvtoVAZ; 11,889), Daewoo Matiz (11,826) and Chevrolet Lanos (11,608).

The sales of foreign cars surged 54 on year to 454,069 cars in the first three months of the year. The pace slowed down a bit, as the growth was 74 percent in the first quarter of 2007. Chevrolet (58.498) is the absolute leader, and it is followed by Hyundai and Ford respectively.

The list of most popular brands in Russia includes Chevrolet (with GM-AvtoVAZ; 58,498), Hyundai (44,054), Ford (41,499), Nissan (37,253), Toyota (35,824), Renault (24,303), Opel (23,479), Daewoo (23,341), Mitsubishi (21,296) and Kia (21,101).

Ford was the second in the overall sales of 2007 and Hyundai was the third then.
