Bush Visits Kiev with Snipers
Security actions of no precedent are taken in Ukrainian capital Kiev during the official visit of U.S. President George W. Bush March 31 and April 1.
According to data leaked to the media, a team of snipers arrives in Kiev together with the U.S. president to secure his safety. The snipers are sanctioned to shoot if they spot any suspicious people with objects resembling weapons on balconies or roofs. So, the residents of downtown Kiev living in houses located en route of the U.S president have been strongly advised not to go out to balconies, open windows, climb roofs or take photos or videos.

“There’s a separate request to residents of downtown Kiev, the citizens living along the road of cortege movement. Without need, don’t go out to balconies, open windows, climb roofs of the houses and take photos and videos,” said V. Geletey, who is the chief of the State Guard Service of Ukraine.

The request, the official went on, particularly relates to the residents of Sofia and Mikhailov squares, Malaya Zhitomirka, Proreznaya, Institutskaya, Lyuterankaya and Bankovskaya streets and a part of Kreshchatnik.

In some streets of Kiev, the traffic will be limited March 31 and April 1, Geletey said, recommending to residents and visitors to refrain from driving to the central Kiev those days.

Some 4,100 officers of Interior Ministry’s bodies will be attracted to protect public order during the Ukrainian visit of Bush.
