Detectives Know the Name of Politkovskaya's Killer
The term of investigating into the murder case of Novaya Gazeta journalist Anna Politkovskaya has been extended, RIA Novosti reported. Detectives know who killed Politkovskaya and spare no effort to arrest the person.
The term of investigating into the murder case of Novaya Gazeta journalist Anna Politkovskaya has been prolonged till September 7, 2008, Russia’s prosecutors’ representative Vyacheslav Smirnov announced Friday during the court sitting. The reason is the exceptional complexity of the case, Smirnov said.
“During the investigation, 60 witnesses of the murder were interrogated, five forensic examinations were conducted. The efforts of investigators weren’t in vain. A direct killer of Politkovskaya has been determined. The investigators spare no effort to find and arrest that person,” Smirnov said.
Novaya Gazeta investigating journalist and a fierce critic of President Vladimir Putin, Anna Politkovskaya was shot dead October 7, 2006 in her Moscow apartment building. Her murder triggered worldwide indignation.
