Inflation Speeds Up on Food Prices
Inflation accelerated on the surge in food prices in early this year, RIA Novosti announced with reference to the report that the RF Economic Development and Trade Ministry released via its web Friday.
The pace of food prices was twice as much as in the previous year, the RF Economic Development Ministry said in the report. “The growth in food prices has contributed 1.4 percent points to inflation since early this year, and its impact was twice as much as a year ago,” the report specified.
Taken overall, the inflation rates also doubled (3.5 percent) in January and February, having generated the growth in product prices that was two times above a year ago (3.6 percent vs. 1.8 percent).
“The February growth matched the rates of three previous months (1.6 percent to 1.9 percent a month on average), Economic Development Ministry reported.
