Russia to Pay 3 Times More under the Strasbourg Court Awards
Russia’s authorities are to pay over ˆ4,330,000 to the residents under the awards of the European Court of Human Rights, Russian Vedomosti newspaper reported. The amount was ˆ1,237,963 a year earlier.
Only Turkey (ˆ7,290,000), Greece (ˆ5,760,000) and Romania (ˆ4,880,000) will pay more than Russia.

Russia averagely pays ˆ30,938 for the case lost in the European Court of Human Rights. The amount averages ˆ52,525 for France, but Ukraine has to pay just ˆ2,926 .

Russia is one of the most disciplined payers under the awards of that court, outpacing Poland and France in the indicator. At the same time, the number of similar cases is very high in Russia (89 percent). Only Italy (98 percent), Slovenia (98 percent), Hungary (94 percent), Ukraine (93 percent) and Poland (90 percent) are ahead of Russia, while Turkey has the same 89 percent.
