Civil Product to Account for 60 Percent of Defense
Enterprises of Russia’s defense and industrial complex will step up the share of civil production to 60 percent by 2015, First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov announced during the sitting of the Government’s Military and Industrial Commission.
“Speaking formally, the industry of conventional weapons won’t directly relate to defense and industrial complex, as the core product will be the civil one,” Ivanov said, specifying that the function of securing defense capacity of the country will be properly executed.

The Military and Industrial Commission deliberates on a few issues today, including shaping the state defense order for 2009 and for the schedule period of 2010 and 2011.

Another concern of the Commission is the draft strategy for fueling the industry of conventional weapons. The purpose to attain is creation of economically stable industry that develops in terms of innovation and secures social and economic advance of the country in addition to tackling defense and security tasks.

The agenda also sets forth draft provisions governing the work of National Satellite System (GLONASS) general designer and the work of general designer for navigation devices of GLONASS clients.
