Czech Republic to Sanction Russia to Check U.S. Radar
Russia’s experts will be given the chance to check a radar station in the Czech Republic once it is stationed there as a part of the U.S. missile defense shield, Itar-TASS reported referring to the Tuesday statement of Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek.
According to Topolanek, Russia will be able to inspect the radar station by consent of Prague. In return, the Czech Republic should be sanctioned to check similar facilities in Russia.

The matter at stake isn’t continuous presence but the chance for bilateral checks of respective facilities. The Czech Republic won’t oppose the checking procedures of that kind, the prime minister made clear.

During his latest tour to the United States, Topolanek went on, U.S. President George Bush assured him that exactly the Czech Republic would decide whether to authorize Russia’s experts to inspect the radar station.

The talks of Prague and Washington about deploying the radar station in the Czech Republic are nearing the end. The parties are expected to conclude the agreement in early April, timing it to the NATO summit in Bucharest.
