Not Kosovo but Chechnya Broke Away from Serbia, Said Each 10th in U.S.
In the United States, each tenth believes that not Kosovo but Chechnya was seeking independence from Serbia, Echo Moskvy reported with reference to the poll held by Washington Research Center.
In the United States, no more than 46 percent of respondents said that Kosovo declared independence from Serbia. But 20 percent thought it was Bosnia and 4 percent chose Andorra. Each fifth admitted he/she didn’t know the answer.

Geography and its relation to politics are hardly the top concern for quite a few in the United States. According to the recent sociological polls, no more than 40 percent of young Americans, who are from 18 years old to 24 years old, know where Iraq is. But the U.S. Army has been stationing there for three years already.

Only a quarter of polled managed to find Israel on the map. The knowledge of the U.S. geography is far from perfect as well. A third failed to find Louisiana, although Katrina hurricane made this state one of the highlights for a few months.
