Onishchenko Attacks McDonald’s
Gennady Onishchenko, who heads the Federal Service on Consumer Rights Supervision (Rospotrebnadzor) and is the country’s chief sanitary inspector, suggests limiting advertising of harmful products. In addition to the over-salted, over-sweet and fat food, the list includes fast food of McDonald’s.
Coupled with low physical activity, big quantities of fat, sugar and salt in the ration of today’s man lead to big numbers of dangerous diseases, including the diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases, Onishchenko said.
The problem of dangerous diseases development because of the malnutrition is acute for the children to the equal extent. There are at least 22 million children in the world that haven’t reached the age of five years yet but who are suffering from excessive weight or obesity.
Exactly advertising develops food preference of children, according to Onishchenko. The parents should limit consumption of such product as chocolate bars and chips. Besides, it is vital that the children themselves pay attention to the problem. This purpose could be attained at the special lessons given under the Guidelines for Safe Life Activity Program, Onishchenko said.
Another highlight is the baby-food. “Russia has no adequate food industry for the babies below a year,” the official emphasized, adding that the so-called milk table could be found only in Moscow.
