Russia Ranked the 2nd in Billionaire Number
Russia is the second worldwide in number of billionaires, while the United States is the global leader in this indicator, showed the Forbes list of the richest men of the world that was promulgated late Wednesday.
The Forbes list of the richest men sets forth 87 Russians vs. 53 a year earlier. With its 87 billionaires, Russia needed sixteen years after the collapse of the Soviet Union to advance to the second position, having easily outpaced Germany with its 59 billionaires that had been the second for six years.
Russia was the third in billionaire number past year; their aggregate fortune was estimated at $282 billion.
Forbes ranked Oleg Deripaska ($28 billion) the ninth richest men of the world and the wealthiest of all Russians.
Of interest is that Finance Magazine estimated Deripaska’s wealth at $40 billion in its ranking of February 18.
No longer the richest in Russia, Roman Abramovich is worth $23.5 billion now and has the 15th ranking of Forbes. In addition to Deripaska and Abramovich, Alexei Mordashov ($21.2 billion) and Mikhail Fridman ($20.8 billion) are ranked amid the top 20 richest people of the planet.
