Naftogaz to Cut Off Transit of Russia’s Gas to Europe
Naftogaz Ukrainy has threatened to cut off the transit of Russia’s gas to Europe should Gazprom continue reducing the supplies, RIA Novosti reported.
Naftogaz Ukrainy retains the right to proceed to the adequate and asymmetrical actions, the company said in the statement. Naftogaz guarantees the continuous transit to Europe as long as it doesn’t threaten the energy safety of Ukraine, the company specified.

Gazprom intends to cut off gas supplies to Ukraine by another quarter this evening in addition to the Monday reduction of 25 percent. Therefore, the aggregate curtailment will reach 50 percent.

Naftogaz claims it has forwarded to Gazprom the documents required to settle the relations in the gas field. So far, however, Ukraine that hasn’t paid off all debt for 2007 supplies continues to consume the gas with no contracts executed to the effect.
