Iran to Buy a Hundred Tu-204s, Tu-214s from Russia
Iran intends to buy a hundred passenger jets (Tu-204, Tu-214) from Russia in the following 10 years, Iran News reported Tuesday. The respective contract will be inked this May; the deal’s budget is estimated at between $2 billion and $2.5 billion.
Should the deal be successful, the parties will agree on the spares’ supplies and maintenance of the jets. They will also study the chances of selling five Tu-334 jets to Iran during five years, Iran News said.
Ilyushin Finance Co. and Iran Airtour clinched the deal for supplying five Tu-204-100E (with upgraded PS-90A2 engines) to Iran in time of the MAKS-2007 international air show in Zhukovsky, outside Moscow, past August. The delivery of five Tu-204-100s (export modification) to Iran Airtour has been slated for 2009.
Certified in 1995, Tu-204 has the layout for 210 passenger armchairs and was designed for passenger, cargo and passenger-cargo flights.
