Gas Severance Tax Won’t Go Up
The rate of the gas severance tax won’t be hiked, State Duma Vice Speaker and Russia’s Gas Association President Valery Yazev told the reporters Friday, RIA Novosti announced.
According to Yazev, the government met in private Friday to deliberate on the possible revision of gas severance tax, which currently amounts to 147 rubles per a thousand cubic meters.
“The decision on hiking the rate hasn’t been made,” the vice speaker pointed out, explaining that the cabinet took into account well-founded position of Russia’s Gas Association that was presented to it.
Russia's Gas Association advocates maintaining today’s basic rate of the gas severance tax till 2011, that is till controlled prices for gas match the export prices in yeild.
