Russia Rebuilds Bismarck’s Villa
The RF President’s Affairs Department is going to build a new state residency near Kaliningrad by late 2009, Interfax reported with reference to Vladimir Kozhin, who manages the affairs of Russia’s president.
“We have set to constructing a state residency near Kaliningrad, the so-called Bismarck’s summer villa will be rebuilt there. Otto von Bismarck, the first Reich Chancellor of German Empire, had lived there once. Nothing but four tumbledown walls are left from this villa of Bismarck,” Kozhin told Interfax.

The residency will be built in accordance with archive documents but by using modern technology. In addition to Bismarck’s villa, the facilities for holding meetings and conferences will be constructed there.

“The work goes at full drive. We plan to complete the construction by late 2009,” Kozhin said, specifying that it will be not presidential but rather the state residency, able to host any events, including the ones held withing the framework of the European Union.
