Govt Approved Master Plan for Stationing Energy Facilities
Russia’s government has approved a general plan for stationing energy facilities in the country till 2020, people in Industry and Energy Ministry said.
Pursuant to the government’s ruling of November 30, 2006, the plan was elaborated in view of the estimated energy consumption growth to 1.426 trillion kWh by 2015 with the potential increase to 1.6 trillion kWh.

The consumption is forecasted to step up to 1,710 billion kWh by 2020 under the basic scenario and to increase to 2 trillion kWh under the maximum one.

The investments in electric energy development are estimated to total 11,829 billion rubles (16 trillion rubles for the maximum scenario). Of this amount, 1,131 billion rubles will go to hydroelectric plants, while nuclear power plants will get 1,737 billion rubles and heating plants will benefit from 3,883 billion rubles.

Some 3 trillion rubles will be injected in the distribution mains and in the mains of national power grid from 2006 to 2010, but the amount will go up to 4.3 trillion rubles in 2011 to 2015 and to 4.5 trillion rubles in 2016 to 2020.
