Sotheby's to Show to Moscow Exhibits Worth $1mn
Sotheby’s has opened today the exhibition of most outstanding lots of forthcoming Russian Contemporarily Sale Auction in the Moscow Arts Center on Neglinnaya Street. They show 30 masterpieces worth over $1 million on aggregate. The exhibition runs from February 20 through 24.
Sotheby’s holds its Russian Contemporarily Sale Auction in London March 12, offering to bidders roughly 150 masterpieces, including canvasses, photos and sculptures. The revenues are estimated at about $5.2 million (£2.6 million).
Oleg Vassiliev’s Before the Sunset oil on canvass is the highlight of the future event. Its estimate stands at between £200,000 and £300,000 ($393,000 to $590,000). In terms of prices, the second leader is AEF+F’s Warrior No.4 bronze sculpture with the estimate of £100,000 to £150,000 ($197,000 to $295,000).
Sotheby’s offers the works of all famed representatives of Russia’s informal art, including Oleg Tselko, Oskar Rabin, Vladimir Nemukhin, Ilya Kabakov, Vladimir Yankilevsky, covering the period of 1960 to 2007.
As to the photos, Sotheby’s auctions Andrei Tarkovsky’s polaroids of 1979 to 1984.
