Russia’s Parliament Passed the Kosovo Statement
The joint statement of Russia’s parliament on the unilateral declaration of Kosovo’s independence will be promulgated on Monday, February 18, 2008, said Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov.
“As the upper house speaker, I have signed the statement already. It is a considered, composed and cold text,” Mironov specified.

In the statement, the speaker went on, the parliamentarians emphasize that provisions of international laws have been unilaterally violated and all principles of the UN have been rejected in Kosovo.

The purpose of the statement, Mironov said, is to draw attention of initiators and supporters of Kosovo’s independence to negative aftereffects of the action. “Our statement is not barely the words of parliamentarians, it is the state position,” Mironov pointed out.
