Georgian Businessman Patarkatsishvili Died in London
One of Georgia’s richest men and opposition leaders Badri Patarkatsishvili died in London. The family confirmed the fact of his death.
Patarkatsishvili died at home, roughly at 11:00 p.m., London time. He died of the heart attack, said Nona Gaprindashvili, who is the many-time chess champion and opposition mate of Patarkatsishvili, pointing out that she doesn’t know any other details and that Patarkatsishvili hadn’t been in poor health.

People in Patarkatsishvili’s news service confirmed he had never complained of any heart pain. But the businessman had been taking too hard the recent events in Georgia, Rati Shartava told Echo Moskvy. Shartava was once the chief of Patarkatsishvili’s election staff – the businessman had run for presidency at the recent election in Georgia. “I think it was the reason of his death,” Shartava supposed.

London police launched the investigation already. The experts are determining exact reason of his death, said Boris Berezovsky, the long business partner of Patarkatsishvili.

The secret service of Georgia is hardly involved, Gennady Gudkov, deputy head of the RF State Duma Security Committee, told RBC. According to Gudkov, the businessman had been apparently withdrawing from policy and killing him made no particular sense.
