Paying Off Gas Debt Undertime Is Impossible, Tymoshenko Said
It is impossible to pay off Ukraine’s gas debt on tight schedule, RBC-Ukraine reported with reference to the news conference of Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
When negotiating with Russia, Kiev will be pressing for restructuring the debt of Neftegaz Ukrainy to RosUkrEnergo, the prime minister specified.

Tymoshenko also publicly acknowledged Ukraine’s gas debt of $1.072 billion, specifying that consumers paid to Neftegaz Ukrainy in October, November and December but that money has never reached RîsUkrEnergo.

Tymoshenko also pledged to personally discuss the transfer to direct gas supplies in Moscow February 21. Russia won’t cut off gas deliveries, Tymoshenko assured, never minding Gazprom’s ultimatum.

Russia’s gas monopoly, Gazprom, demands from Ukraine to clear the arrears by late February 11, warning to cut off gas supplies at 10:00 a.m., February 12.
