Peter Will KO Maskaev in the Third
Nigerian heavyweight boxer Samuel Peter, who will fight World Boxing Council world champion Oleg Maskaev on March 8, has stated that he will knock the Russian out in the third round. Peter emphasized that he is in good shape and ready to beat Maskaev, according to the Internet publication boxingconfidential.com.
The fight between Maskaev and Peter, who is WBC “temporary champion,” will take place in Cancun, Mexico in an open-air stadium. The winner of that match will face Ukrainian Vitali Klitschko, who is returning to professional boxing.

Maskaev, who turns 39 on March 2, became world champion in August 2006, after he knocked out American Hasim Rahman. He defended his title in December 2006 and has not been in the ring since then. Maskaev has fought in a total of 39 fights and won 34, 26 with knockouts.

Peter, 22, has been in the professional ring 30 times and won 29 times, 22 times with knockouts. His only loss came in September 2005 to Wladimir Klitschko.
