Moscow Court Sustained 2-Yr Sentence for Berezovsky
The Moscow District Court has sustained the verdict to Boris Berezovsky, who was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison for the theft of Aeroflot money. Therefore, the court has overruled the appeal of defense against the verdict of Savelovsky Court to halt the criminal action against the businessman.
Alexander Dudkin, who is the state-appointed attorney of Boris Berezovsky, said he wouldn’t appeal the verdict as he has no authority for it. The verdict is absurd and all accusations appear cooked up, the lawyer said, specifying that neither Berezovsky nor his attorneys have got in touch with him.
On November 29, 2007, Savelovsky Court of Moscow sentenced in absentia Boris Berezovsky to six years in prison for misappropriation of over 214 million rubles of Aeroflot money. What’s more, the court upheld the suit of Aeroflot against Berezovsky and other accused (Nikolay Glushkov, Lidia Kryzhevskaya, Roman Sheinin) and ruled to collect from them 214.889 million rubles for the damage caused to the company.
In October of 2006, Savelovsky Court of Moscow conditionally sentenced to two years in prison two top managers of Aeroflot, ex-deputy general director Nikolay Glushkov and chief accountant Lyudmila Kryzhevskaya. Former chief of Financial United Corp., Roman Sheinin, got the conditional sentence of two years as well.
