FSB Elucidates in British Council
FSB has launched the elucidation campaign amid Russian employees of the British Council, RIA Novosti reported.
The purpose of these efforts of FSB is to protect the Russians against being lured into “provocative games of the Brits.” So, the FSB is clarifying to Russia’s employees of the British Council the situation around this organization, the standing of Russia in respect of its offices in the country’s regions, FSB’s PR Center announced.
The RF Foreign Ministry ordered to close all offices of the British Council January 1, 2008, blaming the ban on the lack of agreements governing activities of this organization in Russia. But the offices resumed their work after New Year holidays.
On January 14, the RF Foreign Ministry refused to grant visas and prolong accreditation for employees of Britain’s General Consulates in St. Petersburg and Ekaterinburg related to the British Council.
