Volkswagen Surged Russia’s Sales 67.8 Percent in 2007
Volkswagen surged Russia’s sales by 67.8 percent to 37,907 cars in 2007, the company’s press service announced. The sales of passenger cars, for instance, grew 67 percent to 32,002.
Volkswagen sold 11,113 Passats, including 1,035 Passat Variants, in Russia in 2007, having widened the sales by 69 percent on year. The sales of luxury Volkswagen Touaregs stepped up 40 percent to 6,300, and Golf sales grew 77 percent to 4,537. The sales of Gold Plus reached 2,510.

In the sector of commercial cars, the 2007 sales of Volkswagen soared 74 percent to 5,905 in Russia. As many as 2,100 Volkswagen Caddies was sold past year, including 911 Kastens and 1,189 Kombis.

The combined sales of Volkswagen LT and Crafter models stood at 555. Volkswagen Transporter sales grew 16 percent to 1,177. What’s more, Volkswagen managed to sell 1,070 luxury Multivans past year, 68 percent up on year.

The 2007 overall sales of foreign cars in Russia totaled 1,645,630, having manifested the annual growth of 61 percent. According to Car Makers Committee at Europe’s Business Association in Russia, Chevrolet (including GM-AVTOVAZ venture) was most popular here with the sales of 190,553 cars. Ford followed with 175,793, and Hyundai was the last of the leading trio with 147,843 cars. Of interest is that December sales of foreign cars jumped 50 percent to 178,095.
