First Vice Premier Creates Armored Vehicle Maker
Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov convenes today a meeting in Omsk dedicated to setting up Uralvagonzavod Consortium. The enterprise will focus on developing and creating artillery and armored vehicles, RIA Novosti reported referring to a source with Ivanov’s office.
“Ivanov will visit Omsk Transport Engineering Plant to hold a meeting dedicated to establishment of Uralvagonzavod Consortium,” the source said.

The first deputy PM will go to Omsk Refinery in the next effort to get familiar with the work of Hydrocarbon Processing Institute of Siberian Branch of Russia’s Science Academy. Today’s member of Gazpromneft, Omsk Refinery emerged in 1955; its capacity stands at $19.5 million tons of oil.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin inked the decree on Uralvagonzavod creation in late August of 2007. The consortium will consolidate a dozen of enterprises dealing with development and production of artillery and armored vehicles as well as the Transport Engineering Research Bureau, which currently develops a wide range of product for Omsk Transport Engineering Plant, the maker of T-80 tanks.
