VTB Confirmed Frozen Accounts under Noga’s Suit
VTB has confirmed that some accounts of Russia’s government’s bodies and companies with VTB Bank France were frozen under the suit of Noga to Russia, Interfax reported.
“We confirm the information about frozen accounts but don’t disclose names of the clients, which accounts with the bank were frozen,” representatives of VTB told Interfax-AFI.
The Paris bailiffs have frozen some accounts of Russia in France under the suit of Swiss Noga, RIA Novosti announced referring to the bailiffs’ report. The document of January 2 says the tangible assets of Russia’s government have been seized. The action extended, in particular, to accounts of government’s information agency, FGUP RAMI RIA Novosti, opened with the Paris branch of the VTB.
Under the bank documents, the bailiffs blocked roughly ˆ79,000 of the agency’s funds with the bank. Overall, Noga estimated Russia’s debt at roughly ˆ49 million, according to the bailiffs’ documents.
Noga has been clashing with Russia for a few years already. In 2005, for instance, the paintings from Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts were seized under Noga’s demand in Switzerland, but the exhibition was sent back to Moscow once the Swiss authorities stepped in to sort out the conflict.
