Michelin to Manufacture Tires in Russia
July 7, French company Michelin launched automobile tires production in Orekhovo-Zuevo district of Moscow Region with planned capacity of 2.1 million pieces a year.
Planned production capacity will be reached by early 2005. Realization of the project began yet in 2001 when Michelin bought production space, which used to belong to an agricultural machinery enterprise in Davidovo village.
Overall investment sum of the project amounts to $70 million. The plant will manufacture passenger cars’ tires 13, 14 and 15 inches in diameter, summer tires Energy and winter tires Alpin. Michelin group is among the leaders of tire production, it has 74 enterprises in 18 countries.
